a response to homophobia in dancehall/reggae culture

true story: ces plays this phat beat that’s been hiding in the 404 for months, a looped clip of climbing poetree “WARRIOR GET UP!” with the heavy bass which i vibes to cos it sounds like dancehall (the first track we made, security; ces had a wack a beats, i picked four and if you listen the tchune has a reggae vibes plus bullets -literally the sound of gunfire- which dancehall mixes sometimes feature – ces aka lover sun makes absurd beats and sometimes sun throws in a little reggae dancehall vibes which i adore)… so, right, the tchune is big and i’m all “we gotta say something big, yo” and ces is steady tweekin’ knobs n buttons to see what she can pull out from it and finds the sweet spot and i’m all “STOP! that! that!” THEN ces goes n finds another beat – another beat – and speeds up the tchune n brings back in the climbing poetree clip – BERZERK.  wait, it’s not over, THEN ces finds this random beat i call the duppy beat – this ambient noise movement footsteps and so i had to step up my game yo, the beat is big, so i’m getting in it moving, gesturing, saying how live it is and how we gotta drop some serious words bout serious stuff – so of course, i think babylon, rhyme about babylon, then i think no – wait – what have i bee complaining about all week? homophobia in dancehall BOOM! so then we freestyled! enjoy! (jus wait, we’re recording the final product tomorrow morning!!) but first – a dedication:

DIS ONE GOES OUT TO ALLA DE MAN DEM WHO CHAT PURE VIOLENCE PON PEOPLE DEM WHO LOVE INNA WAY DE MAN DEM FEEL SEH NOH RIGHT – WE NAH BIZNEZ – WE NOH WANNA HEAR YUH BADMIND.
